Permits and Requirements in Liberty Hill
Every city on our list handles concrete work differently, and getting this wrong is the client’s problem, not the contractor’s. Here is what applies in Liberty Hill.
Check whether you are actually in the city
This matters more in Liberty Hill than anywhere else we work. Santa Rita Ranch is a separate census-designated place in unincorporated Williamson County, about six miles northeast of town. It has a Liberty Hill address and Liberty Hill ISD schools, but it is county jurisdiction, not city. We verify the address before filing anything.
Liberty Hill uses Round Rock’s standards
The city’s development code states that design of improvements shall conform to the City of Round Rock Design and Construction Standards, as amended. Liberty Hill does not maintain its own paving specs, it adopts Round Rock’s by reference.
Newer codes than the neighbours
Liberty Hill works to the 2021 International Building, Residential, Plumbing, Mechanical, Energy Conservation and Fire codes plus the 2020 National Electrical Code. Hutto and Taylor are still on the 2018 cycle. Flatwork is not on the city’s published permit-required list, so we confirm scope with the city rather than assume either way.
Drainage and flooding in Liberty Hill. Liberty Hill sits in what the county calls Flash Flood Alley, on the steeper, rockier western side where runoff moves fastest and thin soil over limestone gives water almost nowhere to infiltrate. In June 2007, 14 inches of rain fell between Florence and Liberty Hill, closing US-183 and SH-29. In September 2018 around 90 people were evacuated from a wedding venue and more than 50 required rescue. Where flatwork sends its water is a real question here.
