Every Service, Built for This Ground
Our Concrete Services in Harker Heights
Same six services everywhere we work. What changes from town to town is the problem we are building against, and that is set by what is under your property.

The problem hereSloped driveways here have two problems flat lots do not: crossfall and water. A driveway on a grade collects everything coming off the lot above it.
How we build for itWe design the drainage as part of the driveway rather than as a separate item, and we prep so the run bears on consistent material where it crosses from rock into a filled section.

The problem hereA patio on a Harker Heights hillside lot is usually a terraced structure rather than a simple slab, and terracing means retaining, which means drainage.
How we build for itWe design the terrace and its drainage together, isolate from the house, and keep individual panels near square rather than long and thin.

The problem hereRock at a foot or two on the ridges means footing depths are settled on site. In the draws you are back to clay that moves seasonally.
How we build for itWe establish which one applies, and we hold the grading rules that matter more on a slope than anywhere: five percent fall through the first ten feet, and a route for concentrated flow that is not across your slab.

The problem hereThis is the strongest retaining wall market on our list. Skipcha Mountain and the surrounding relief mean a lot of Harker Heights property needs real structural walls.
How we build for itWe build drainage in from the start with weep detail and free-draining backfill, step footings into rock rather than bearing on rubble, and size for the actual retained height.

The problem hereOwner-occupied property held for longer justifies a better finish, and a lot of the decorative work we do here is on established homes rather than new builds.
How we build for itWe match the finish to the house, build the slab underneath for the ground it sits on, and start summer pours early to protect the surface.

The problem herePaver work on a slope has to resist creep, and on shallow rock the base usually has to be imported.
How we build for itWe build and compact a proper section and detail edge restraint that will actually hold a field on a grade.
Local Rules
Permits and Requirements in Harker Heights
Every city on our list handles concrete work differently, and getting this wrong is the client’s problem, not the contractor’s. Here is what applies in Harker Heights.
A driveway permit exists
Harker Heights publishes an Application for Street Cutting or Boring, Driveway and Sidewalk Permit, so driveway approach and sidewalk work is clearly permitted work. The Building Official’s office is at 305 Millers Crossing, 254-953-5600.
Patios are less clear
The city’s FAQ says only that permits are not generally required for maintenance and minor repairs so long as the work does not violate the technical codes, and directs residents to contact the Building Official. Patios and interior lot slabs are not addressed, so we confirm rather than assume.
Slope work
On a hillside lot, retaining and drainage often bring in more of the code than the flatwork itself. We scope the whole job with the city rather than permitting only the obvious part.
Drainage and flooding in Harker Heights. Harker Heights was a named participant in the Nolan Creek Flood Protection Planning Study run by the Central Texas Council of Governments with Belton, Killeen and Nolanville between 2017 and 2019. The southern edge of the city drains toward Stillhouse Hollow Lake. On hillside development, concentrated sheet flow onto downslope lots is a real and predictable problem, which is why we treat drainage as part of the structure here rather than a finishing detail.
