Every Service, Built for This Ground
Our Concrete Services in Florence
Same six services everywhere we work. What changes from town to town is the problem we are building against, and that is set by what is under your property.

The problem hereAn acreage driveway in Florence can be several hundred feet long, cross a culvert, and pass through more than one ground condition on the way to the house.
How we build for itWe survey the run, build the section for the loads that actually use it, and get the culvert and drainage right, because on a long private drive water is what takes the surface out first.

The problem herePatios on large lots here are usually part of an outdoor living area rather than a small slab off the back door, which means bigger continuous pours.
How we build for itWe plan the pour and the joints together so a large area still has designed places for shrinkage to go, and we keep panels near square rather than long and thin.

The problem hereShallow limestone on the uplands means footing and pier depths get settled on site. In the clay flats the opposite applies and the design has to account for seasonal movement.
How we build for itWe work out which condition your building sits on before pricing, and we hold the drainage basics: five percent fall through the first ten feet, top of concrete eight inches above finished grade.

The problem hereThe cut plain terrain gives real grade change on a lot of Florence property, and walls here are structural rather than decorative.
How we build for itWe build drainage into the wall, step footings into rock where we find it, and size for the actual retained height.

The problem hereDecorative work on acreage here tends to be entrances and courtyards, often in full sun with no shade anywhere on the site.
How we build for itWe start early through the summer, use evaporation retarder immediately after finishing, and cure properly rather than relying on a Central Texas afternoon.

The problem hereOn thin soil over rock there is often not enough native material to build a base from, so it has to be imported.
How we build for itWe bring in and compact a proper section rather than laying bedding onto whatever is there, and detail the edges so the field holds on a slope.

Permits and Requirements in Florence
Every city on our list handles concrete work differently, and getting this wrong is the client’s problem, not the contractor’s. Here is what applies in Florence.
Inside the city
Florence issues its own building permits. The city’s ordinance cites an older edition of the International Building Code, which looks out of date to us, so we confirm the currently adopted edition with the city rather than quoting a number at you.
Outside the city, on a county road
This one is clear and well documented. Williamson County requires a Driveway Permit to construct a proposed driveway or modify an existing driveway connecting to a county-maintained roadway. A Utility Permit covers work in county right of way. The County Engineer is on 512-943-3330 and applications go through MyGovernmentOnline.
The county does not permit buildings
Williamson County states plainly that it has no authority to zone property for land use and does not issue certificates of occupancy. Driveway and right-of-way permits are a separate matter and are required. Anything connecting to SH-195 or FM 487 is a TxDOT permit rather than a county one.
Drainage and flooding in Florence. Williamson County maintains a floodplain management function, and its Road and Bridge division issues a Certificate of Compliance specifically to verify floodplain status before construction. On acreage with long drives and culverts, that is worth resolving early rather than after the forms are set.
